TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Lakeland man was arrested Friday morning after leading a high-speed chase on State Road 60 and coming “dangerously” close to crashing into other vehicles, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office clocked a driver in a White Corolla Cross going 75 mph in a posted 50 mph zone on State Road 60 east of South Maydell Drive just before 1:45 a.m.
An arrest report said the deputy tried to overtake the vehicle to pull it over. However, when the deputy activated his emergency lights and sirens, the driver began to pull over, but then sped up.
