Polk County Commission Removes CareerSource Polk CEO And Entire Board Of Directors

Polk County commissioners permanently removed CareerSource Polk President and CEO Stacy Campbell-Domineck for cause Tuesday, then removed the agency’s entire 19-member board of directors in a unanimous vote during the regular county commission meeting.

Commissioner Michael Scott placed both removal items on the Oct. 6 agenda under his district’s section. The resolution to permanently remove Campbell-Domineck carried 3-2, with Commissioners Martha Santiago and Scott voting no. The vote ends a five-week process that began when the commission temporarily removed Campbell-Domineck on Sept. 1 and found cause to begin permanent removal on Sept. 15.

Commissioners then voted 5-0 to remove the full CareerSource Polk Board of Directors. A council and committee assignment roster last revised Sept. 14 lists 19 board members, 16 of them private sector representatives, along with seats held by education, government and labor representatives. All are now vacant.

Nilda Blanco will continue to run CareerSource Polk as interim executive director, said Amber Smith, communications division director for the county. Blanco was appointed in September. She came to the role from CareerSource Florida, the state organization that oversees Florida’s 21 local workforce boards, where she had worked as a business engagement consultant and project leader since November 2025.
