Harrison grad’s futuristic swan chosen as poster art for Mayfaire festival in Lakeland

Citizens Bank and Trust Mayfaire by-the-Lake has released the feature poster artist and image for the 51st annual festival, scheduled for May 13-14 at Lake Morton in Lakeland.

The image from artist Alex Lanier, titled “The Future,” depicts a swan wearing a space helmet and sitting atop a rocket with a pair of boosters firing as it rises above Lake Morton. The name of the festival appears on the rocket in large, block letters.

The pen-and-ink-inspired digital painting encapsulates Lanier’s signature travel-inspired pop surrealist style, the Polk Museum of Art said in a news release.
