HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Dade City man was killed in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer on Cortez Boulevard at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevy HHR, driven by a 29-year-old Dade City man, was traveling westbound on SR-50 (Cortez Boulevard).
Troopers say that just west of Hartness Drive, the Dade City man lost control of the Chevy, which crossed the median, entered the highway’s eastbound lanes, and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

Troopers say the man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash and was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 45-year-old Plant City man, suffered minor injuries.
