LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A motorcyclist died after being struck by another vehicle and getting thrown from his bike in Lakeland on Saturday morning, according to police.
Around 6:33 a.m., a 41-year-old man in a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on New Tampa Highway when he tried to pass a cement mixer and drove into the eastbound lanes.

The Lakeland Police Department said the driver of the truck struck a 33-year-old man on a Suzuki motorcycle head-on in the eastbound lanes. The truck entered a grassy area and overturned.
The collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The man in the pickup truck was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
