Advocates want charges dropped against man after violent arrest in Lakeland

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Community advocates in are calling for charges to be dropped against a man who was beaten during an arrest in Polk County more than a year ago.

The state attorney’s investigation found the officers’ use of force was justified but supporters of Antwan Glover want prosecutors to clear him of all charges related to his arrest.

Lakeland police said Antwan Glover resisted arrest and put officers in an officer in a headlock.
State attorney Brian Haas said they are not charging any of the officers in the case.
But supporters said Glover’s traffic stop was unjustifiable and are demanding justice.

Video showed the moment Glover was pulled over for not wearing a seat belt. Officers can be seen punching him multiple times while he is on the ground.

Flash forward more than a year, and Glover is still grappling with the incident.

“It changed my life a lot, it changed my life a lot,” Glover said.
