Patrick Gorman, 55, whose last known address was in Ruffs Dale in Westmoreland County, was arrested in Brevard County, Fla., on Sunday, Feb. 4, on a Polk County, Fla. warrant. Polk County Sheriff’s Office ( PCSO ) said Gorman has a history of fraudulent business practices in Florida, Maryland, Kentucky, and his home state of Pa.

According to PCSO, an investigation into Gorman began on Jan. 18 after they were contacted by a relative of an elderly person, saying they noticed three personal checks were written to Grorman totaling $24,550. One of the checks allegedly has “roof repair” written on it.

The victim said that Gorman came to his house on Jan. 4 and entered the home uninvited and showed him photos of an alleged hole in the roof that Gorman claimed to have repaired and he was owed $8,750 for the work. According to PCSO, no roof repair work was done other than some white coating spread. Deputies noted the roof was only three years old and that an expert told them nothing was wrong with it.
