Florida woman, horse have rare ‘century ride’

TAMPA (WFLA) — A Florida woman and her horse finally had the chance for a “century ride” on Friday.

Judy Slade, who turned 81 on Feb. 5, and her 19-year-old Paso Fino gelding Cariño began their ride at noon in Dade City.

A “century ride” is when the age of the horse and rider equals 100 years old.

Judy called her ride “wonderful,” saying Cariño’s trainer Roz and stablehand Kelly rode with her.

“A Century Ride does not happen often,” Judy said. “I’m so lucky to have had mine.”
