City Buffet in Hillsborough County Cited For 11 Health Violations; Roach Found on “My Plate”

City Buffet Mongolian Barbeque Inc., a local dining place located at 790 W Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Seffner, Hillsborough County, recently faced scrutiny from the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation.

Despite being cited for several health violations across multiple inspections in early 2024, the restaurant was not ordered to close. Instead, management is taking corrective actions to prove its commitment to health safety while continuing to serve the local community.

The Initial Inspection

During a routine food inspection on January 29, 2024, health officials noted 11 violations, including high-priority concerns such as live roach activity and issues with time/temperature control for safety food, particularly regarding sushi rice lacking time marking.

Meanwhile, a notable intermediate violation was also observed for offering raw or undercooked oysters without the necessary consumer advisory sign.

However, these issues were promptly addressed on-site, with the manager taking immediate corrective measures such as eradicating the roach and properly marking the sushi rice, as well as printing and posting the required oyster advisory.
