Hernando County Motorcycle Crash Leaves Webster Man Dead

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A motorcyclist died following a collision with a pickup truck on Saturday afternoon in Dade City, Florida.

The crash occurred at around 1:32 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of SR-50 and Cortez Boulevard, near the Hernando County solid waste station (33070 Cortez Blvd).

Investigators say a 67-year-old Webster man was driving a GMC 2500 pickup truck when it exited the waste station and turned left onto SR-50. The truck collided with a Yamaha motorcycle traveling eastbound on the highway.

The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old Dade City man, was thrown from the bike and suffered fatal injuries. He was transported to an area hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
