What Now reported earlier this year that The Smoothie Spot , a brand-new locally owned smoothie shop, would open in Riverview , at 13384 US Highway 301 S . The local business, which faced a range of setbacks during its opening process (one which began back in 2021 during the pandemic years), has finally opened.
“Our lease was signed in July of 2021, but due to multiple issues, the unit was not made available to occupy until late 2023,” owner Doug Hamric told What Now in an email. Hamric, a Tampa native who serves as a fireman for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, says it was a difficult period, but that he and his family relied on prayer and the Church of God to make it through.
“We currently offer a full menu of smoothies, fresh-brewed coffee, espresso, juices, bowls, and wraps, just to a name a few,” Hamric said. “We also carry top-of-the-line products from REDCON1 and PEScience that are for sale on our shelves, as well as in every smoothie we make! No generic anything at this shop!”
