Undercover detectives bust Winter Haven lounge for illegal alcohol sales, 2 charged: PCSO

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) —Employees of a Winter Haven lounge have been charged for illegal alcohol sales, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office stated.

Undercover PCSO detectives visited Da Place Hookah Lounge on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 and purchased alcohol from the lounge, despite the lounge not having a license to sell alcoholic beverages.

Wandy Noel, 33, the operator of the lounge, was charged with maintaining a business to sell alcohol unlawfully, according to PCSO.

Sallie Henry, 26, a bartender at the lounge, was charged with the sale of alcoholic beverages without a license, PSCO stated.

“Two times in the past six months, Wandy Noel has attempted to illegally sell alcohol out of his businesses within Polk County. I would suggest to him that he try a different business strategy because this one just isn’t working out for him,” Sheriff Grad Judd said.

PCSO worked alongside the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco to find out that Da Place Hookah Lounge did not have an alcohol license, PSCO stated.
