TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office conducted a New Year’s Eve DUI operation with multiple agencies on Tuesday.
HCSO deputies along with the Tampa Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol conducted traffic stops of drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs.
“The holiday season is a time for celebration, but it’s also a time when the risk of impaired driving increases significantly. By partnering with our fellow law enforcement agencies, we were able to send a strong message that driving under the influence is not only dangerous but completely unacceptable,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said.
The operation results are:
- DUI arrests: 23
- Traffic stops: 139
- Citations: 16
- Warnings: 121
“This collaborative effort not only held offenders accountable but also served as a reminder to everyone in our community to make responsible decisions and prioritize safety. Together, we’re working to save lives and prevent tragedies before they happen,” Chronister said.
