An 82-year-old Gastonia, North Carolina man was arrested on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly stabbing his daughter’s boyfriend.
Deputies responded around 2:42 p.m. to a residence on Saddlewood Boulevard, north of Lakeland. Following an investigation, they arrested Rudolph Philson in connection with the incident.
The victim, a 43-year-old man, had been living at the home with his girlfriend but was in the process of moving out. When he returned to retrieve his belongings, he was confronted by Philson, who allegedly stabbed him in the chest.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Rudolph Philson was booked into the Polk County Jail and faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder with a weapon, a first-degree felony.
