Polk Virtual School to shutter at conclusion of school year

LAKELAND, Fla. — After Polk County School Board members decided to eliminate Polk Virtual School, some Polk County families say they’re left scrambling for options for next school year.

At a School Board Workshop on May 6, Polk County School Board members reviewed programs that could be scaled back or eliminated in an effort to save money. The Superintendent said Polk Virtual School was part of cuts that the Board knew it would have to make when they agreed to raise teachers’ salaries.
