Lakeland officials have decided when you build a “path to nowhere,” sometimes you just have to keep building while keeping an eye on the future destination.
The City Commission voted 6-1 on May 19 to approve a contract with Florida Department of Transportation to design and construct a pedestrian overpass on New York Avenue at an estimated cost of $9.2 million. It’s a project that’s been more than 15 years in the works, and some are now questioning how useful the future pathway will be.
