‘Paint Polk Purple’ gives residents with Alzheimer’s creative outlet, raises funds for research

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Residents of memory care units across Polk County are “painting Polk purple” by giving residents a creative outlet, and for one artist, rekindling a lifelong passion.

Anita Morrison knows how to pick out the perfect color and achieve the perfect shading to translate a bouquet of flowers into a piece of art.

“I love it very much,” she said. “I can get lost in it and spend a whole day.”
