A speeding unlicensed driver from Mexico was arrested after buzzing by a police officer’s patrol car on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.
Yoli Amaranta Sanchez-Santiago, 30, of Mulberry, was driving a white Chevy Cruz in the far right lane at about 10 p.m. Tuesday traveling at about 70 miles per hour when she passed an officer who was driving at 50 mph in the same direction, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The officer initiated a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 near Lake Ella Road.
During the traffic stop, Sanchez-Santiago indicated she does not speak English, therefore a bilingual officer was called to the scene. Sanchez-Santiago offered a Mexican identification card. A computer check revealed that Sanchez-Santiago was previously arrested for driving without a license in Polk County. Sanchez-Santiago told the officer she “only received a fine and must continue to drive because she has to work.”…
