Polk County deputy, once praised for record DUI arrests, accused of taking cash at traffic stop

A Polk County sheriff’s deputy once publicly praised for his record-breaking number of DUI arrests resigned on June 25 after being arrested on charges of taking money from a driver at a traffic stop.

Former Officer Justin Register, 28, was arrested June 25 and faces one misdemeanor charge of petty theft. He submitted his resignation later that day.
