A Bottle, a Blade, and Broken Trust
LAKELAND, Fla. – What started as a night of beers and banter between two Lakeland roommates quickly devolved into a shocking scene of violence, leaving one man with a serious neck wound and the other facing attempted murder charges, and possibly deportation.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives were called to a local hospital where a victim was being treated for a gruesome laceration – a mere inch from his carotid artery. According to the victim’s statement, a friendly drinking session with his roommate took a dark turn when the suspect, 30-year-old Jose Munoz, allegedly flew into a rage and slashed him with a broken beer bottle.
A neighbor rushed the injured man to the hospital, while deputies tracked down Munoz at the shared residence on New Tampa Highway in west Lakeland…
