Out-of-state teens charged for ‘swatting’ calls in Polk County

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A pair of teenagers from outside of Florida have been arrested for allegedly “swatting” a victim in Polk County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspects were said to be a 15-year-old from Connecticut and a 14-year-old from New York. Deputies said the teenagers victimized a Poinciana resident on June 4 and June 5.

Swatting is defined as a false 911 report of “a violent incident intended to elicit an emergency response by a law enforcement agency.”…
