Some flooding concerns remain in Plant City after this week’s heavy rain

PLANT CITY, Fla. — Roads turned into rivers and yards became lakes in Plant City Monday as a concentrated batch of storms dropped up to 10.5 inches of rain on the area in about four hours.

“It’s a little abnormal to see that much rain in one, concentrated spot because usually, our thunderstorms do kind of move along, but it’s not as abnormal as you might think,” said Spectrum News Meteorologist Brian McClure. “Here in Florida, if you do get unlucky and two storms come together in one area, it can happen. I mean, they’re tropical downpours, and we live in a subtropical climate, so it can happen. It does happen.”
