To help untangle a stretch of U.S. Highway 27 near its junction with Interstate 4, multiple road projects are in various stages of completion where sedans and tractor-trailers compete for space on local roads near one of Polk County’s truck-clogged warehouse districts.
“They’re all basically trying to create these alternative routes for people to get around and not use Highway 27 and the I-4 exchange to basically move north and south,” said Jay Jarvis, Polk’s roads and drainage director, after a July 15 County Commission meeting.
The commissioners had just voted on yet another step toward to improvements to North Ridge Trail. Many other road projects have been gaining approvals over the last few years…
