SEU Nationally Recognized for Commitment to First-Gen Student Success

Southeastern University (SEU) has been officially selected as a new member of the FirstGen Forward Network, formerly the Center for First-Generation Student Success, for 2025-26. SEU was chosen due to its dedication to improving experiences and advancing success for first-generation college students.

“In keeping with our unwavering commitment to empowering first-generation students through barrier reduction and intentional supportive programming, we are honored and thrilled to join the FirstGen Forward Network,” said SEU’s Chief Student Success Officer, Melissa Maisenbacher.

FirstGen Forward is the leading source for evidence-based practices, professional development and knowledge-building to support first-generation students in higher education. As a network member, SEU has become part of a national movement to scale and sustain this vital work.

In order to join the network, institutions must complete a competitive application process. During the first year, network members engage in monthly workshops, peer learning opportunities and professional development sessions while contributing to a nationwide knowledge-sharing community…
