Pawning the Evidence: Haines City Firearm Thief Busted After Selling Stolen Weapon

HAINES CITY, Fla. – A late July firearm theft from a Haines City residence has been solved, with a Davenport woman now facing multiple charges after a Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) detective traced the stolen weapon to a local pawn shop.

According to a report from the PCSO, a resident reported a firearm missing from his home in late July. The victim informed detectives that only four people had access to his residence during the timeframe of the theft. Among them was a woman he did not know, who had accompanied another person on a visit and had asked to use the restroom inside the home.

The unknown woman was later identified as 37-year-old Kristina Lee Torres of Davenport. The PCSO detective’s investigation quickly led to a breakthrough when it was discovered that the stolen firearm had recently been sold to a local pawn shop…
