A Lakeland man, a former state correctional officer, was charged with domestic battery after allegedly striking a woman twice in the face.
LAKELAND, Fla. – A 29-year-old Lakeland man was arrested early Thursday morning for domestic violence, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Artavis Pierce was taken into custody after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home he shares with the victim.
Deputies were dispatched just before 1 a.m. The victim reported that she and Pierce were arguing when he allegedly struck her twice in the face. Although she was unsure if the strikes were from an open hand or a closed fist, her injuries were visible to deputies. Pierce was arrested at the scene without incident.
