TAMPA, Fla. – Heavy rain and thunderstorms could bring flooding concerns to Florida’s Nature Coast and West Central region beginning Saturday morning, with impacts lingering into Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, rainfall totals could reach 2 to 3 inches, with isolated higher amounts. Urban streets, low-lying neighborhoods, and areas with poor drainage are at heightened risk for flooding during periods of intense downpours.
The greatest risk stretches from Citrus and Hernando counties south into the Tampa Bay area, where repeated showers could overwhelm storm drains and cause standing water on roads.
