Mexican National Charged with Burglary and Drug Offenses in Eloise, Florida

A Mexican national has been taken into custody by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for unlawfully residing in a home in Eloise, Florida. Christian Javier Almanza Rosales, 29, was arrested on Thursday after he was discovered living in a property on 1st Street West without the owner’s consent, according to a statement from Polk County Sheriff’s Office News. Rosales, who is reported to be in the United States illegally, faces several charges that include Burglary of a Dwelling and Theft of Utility Services.

Following a tip-off from a property manager who noted an unauthorized presence in the unoccupied house, deputies arrived on the scene. Here, reconnection of the electrical service was illegally carried out by Rosales, found using the restored electricity to power home essentials such as lights and air conditioning. During the arrest, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were also discovered by the detectives inside the home. “Christian Rosales was basically living in a home illegally while living in the United States illegally,” Sheriff Grady Judd told the Polk County Sheriff’s Office News.

In addition to other offenses, Rosales has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Sheriff’s Office has indicated that due to Rosales’ undocumented status, each of his charges have been escalated to the next higher degree.
