‘I Figured I’m Going to Jail, So I Took a Shower First,’ Suspect Tells Deputies
POLK COUNTY, Fla. – What’s worth a few extra minutes of freedom? According to one Lake Wales man, a clean bill of health. On Saturday, August 30th, Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies arrived at a residence on Alturas-Babson Park Cutoff Road to serve an arrest warrant to Lorne Travis Manley, 46.
Deputies were there to arrest Manley for a violation of his pre-trial release, stemming from prior charges of possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Upon their arrival, deputies found Manley’s vehicle running with the driver’s side door open and his wallet on the seat, but Manley was nowhere in sight. For roughly ten minutes, deputies repeatedly ordered Manley to exit the residence. He finally emerged, freshly showered, and was taken into custody without further incident…
