Polk’s Best Ice Cream: Who has bragging rights? We’re down to the final 2. Vote now.

Summer is rapidly winding down, but there’s still time to enjoy a sweet treat.

A list of more than 22 Polk County ice cream shops and parlors has melted away to two final contenders, both locally owned shops with deep roots in their communities and buckets of the rich, creamy dessert.

Here’s the scoop on our final two contenders, in alphabetical order:

Andy’s Igloo, Winter Haven

Serving up ice cream in Winter Haven since the 1950s, Andy’s Igloo is a local institution. Located at 703 3rd St. SW, it started off as a Dairy Queen, but was quickly trasnformed under Roger “Andy” Anderson decided a decade later to add a restaurant space serving up burgers, fried seafood and homestyle dinners. It warns customers to save room as “ice cream makes the meal.”…
