TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Friday marks one year since Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida.
On Sept. 26, 2024, Helene brought devastating storm damage to Tampa Bay. The maximum storm surge reached five to seven feet in Tampa Bay, according to the National Hurricane Center.
At least 248 deaths were attributed to Helene in the U.S., including thirty-four total deaths reported in Florida.
