Arrest warrant issued for man who fled the country after hitting bicyclist in Lakeland, deputies say

LAKELAND, Fla. — An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who left the country after running over a bicyclist in Lakeland, deputies announced.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced the warrant on Tuesday for 21-year-old Erick Perez De Leon, a Guatemalan man who officials said was an undocumented immigrant living in Lakeland.

Deputies said the crash happened after 5 p.m. Oct. 9 in the area of Campbell Road West where witnesses report a 28-year-old man was riding his E-bike before being hit by a vehicle driven by De Leon…
