Lakeland Eviction Leads To Arrest, Drug Charges, And Maryland Extradition

LAKELAND, Fla. – An eviction notice served in Lakeland on Saturday evening resulted in the arrest of the resident on an out-of-state warrant, as well as new drug possession charges.

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th, a Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputy arrived at a residence on Hampton Avenue to serve an eviction notice. The individual being evicted was identified as 29-year-old Carlos Leiva.

During the service process, the deputy discovered that Leiva was wanted on an active theft warrant issued out of Prince George’s County, Maryland. Leiva was immediately taken into custody based on the outstanding warrant…
