HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County is activating its cold weather shelters on the nights of Monday, Nov. 10, and Tuesday, Nov. 11, as the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures, with wind chill, to drop to or below 40 degrees. The temporary shelters are intended for those who are homeless or living in homes without adequate heat and have no other options for a warm place to stay.
Shelter organizers anticipate high demand and limited capacity. Residents are strongly encouraged to first exhaust personal resources, such as staying with family or friends, before seeking shelter.
The county is collaborating with multiple organizations to provide limited-capacity cold weather shelters exclusively for adults. Intake will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on both Monday, Nov. 10, and Tuesday, Nov. 11, but may close earlier if shelters reach capacity…
