Watch out for falling iguanas! What to know when you see the reptiles in cold weather

TAMPA, Fla. — Colder temperatures are in the forecast for the Tampa Bay area. You know what else is? A chance of falling iguanas.

Ahead of the colder weather, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) says that nonnative green iguanas temporarily go into a state of torpor, losing all muscle control, when the temperatures are near-freezing or below.

The 10 Tampa Bay Weather Impact team says temperatures will fall into the 30s north and low-40s Monday night around the Tampa Bay area, with wind chills near or below freezing early Tuesday…
