LAKELAND, Fla. — On Thursday night, people who live in a mobile home park in Lakeland got an up-close look at what the city hopes will be a solution to continuous flooding.
Lake Bonnet is the problem (not to be confused with Lake Bonny, which has its own flooding woes). Decades of muck needs to be dredged out and new pumps installed to keep its drainage basin and canal from flooding mobile homes along the banks. There’s only one outfall to a drainage basin, and it floods even without a hurricane.
