HCSO creates new unit dedicated to domestic violence cases

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla., (WFLA) – To help with domestic violence cases, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has created a specialized unit to help hold abusers accountable.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said the unit is essential, especially during the holiday season when families are spending more time together and violence can occur.

The specialized unit is made up of 12 detectives, and in the 60 days since the unit was created, the sheriff said they have held hundreds of people accountable.
