Senate Bill 1662, which took effect July 1, 2025, requires the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the Department of Commerce to work together on a statewide advanced air mobility plan. The plan is meant to lay out corridors where electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, often called eVTOLs or flying taxis, could operate, and to build them into Florida’s broader transportation system.
