Puppy Thief’s Getaway Falls Apart as Stolen Pomeranian Is Recovered in Polk County

STUART, FL – A stolen puppy is back where it belongs after a lighthearted crime took a serious turn across county lines.

On December 6, 2025, Stuart Police responded to a report from a local pet store after a Pomeranian puppy, valued at nearly $2,900, was stolen. Investigators learned the suspect attempted to leave the store by concealing the puppy inside her shirt and walking out undetected. The plan, however, quickly unraveled.

Stuart Police Detectives immediately began investigating and followed leads that ultimately took them to Polk County. With assistance from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was located and taken into custody, and the stolen puppy was safely recovered…
