A Plant City man arrested on Christmas Eve for shoplifting large utility batteries at a Deltona Walmart turned out to be wanted for store thefts across the country, according to Volusia County sheriff’s deputies.
David Dean, 43, remained in the Volusia County Branch Jail on Monday, Dec. 29, without bail on charges of possession of an anti-shoplifting, counter-measure device, and outstanding warrants.
According to Volusia deputies, Dean was seen at the Walmart at 101 Howland Blvd. in Deltona around 11:51 a.m. on Dec. 24, allegedly stealing batteries for electronic gardening tools that totaled $1,652.
