New 10mph speed limit law comes into force on February 2 with $100 fines for drivers who ignore ‘flashing’ road signal

A BRAND new program designed to reduce speeding around school zones will come into force with $100 fines from next month.

Signage outside schools in Lakeland, Florida, means that any driver found driving more than 10mph over the school-zone limit while the flashing lights are active will be found in violation.

Officials are introducing 14 speed enforcement cameras near eight school entrances, Spectrum News reports…
