Crews activate new school zone speed cameras in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) – Speeding near schools in Lakeland could soon land drivers a $100 citation. Crews were out Tuesday activating school zone speed cameras near the entrances to several schools.

Lakeland’s ‘Vision Zero Program’ is aimed at making roads in the city safer. The latest piece of the initiative is new speed enforcement cameras near the entrances of 8 schools.

Drivers captured on the camera going more than 10 miles per hour over the posted school-zone speed limit, while school-zone flashing lights are active will receive a $100 citation…
