Fog, Sun, Repeat: Tampa Bay Set For Warm Stretch Before Big Chill

TAMPA, Fla. – Residents across the Tampa Bay area might want to keep the light jackets handy for the morning commute but have the sunglasses ready for the drive home. A pattern of foggy starts and sunny, warm finishes is settling in for the rest of the week, driving temperatures well above seasonal averages before a significant cool-down arrives early next week.

For today, early risers dealt with patchy fog that is expected to burn off by late morning. Once the skies clear, clouds will give way to plenty of sunshine with highs climbing near 78 degrees. Winds will remain calm, shifting gently from the west in the afternoon, making for a pleasant, if humid, mid-week break.

The warming trend really kicks into gear starting Thursday. After another round of morning fog, thermometers are set to hit 81 degrees. By Friday and Saturday, the region will get a taste of “false spring” with highs peaking around 83 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
