Polk City man sentenced to 30 years for child exploitation offenses

TAMPA, Florida — A Polk City man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for transporting child sexual abuse material, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. James Matthew Oxley, a 53-year-old, was also sentenced to 20 years for possession of child sexual abuse material, to run concurrently.

Oxley, who pleaded guilty in September 2025, was ordered to forfeit a cellphone used in the offense, pay $18,000 in restitution to victims, and register as a sex offender. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative to combat child sexual exploitation.
