Southbound Howard Frankland to close Tuesday night

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Southbound I-275 on the Howard Frankland Bridge will be closed overnight on Tuesday, the Florida Department of Transportation said.

The stretch of roadway will be closed from 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Crews will be working to finalize the updated overhead signs as part of the larger project to replace the southbound bridge. The nearly $1 billion project is set to be completed in summer 2026.

As an alternative route, southbound travelers can take the Courtney Campbell Causeway, followed by the Bayside Bridge, to reach the Clearwater/Largo area, or take the Gandy Bridge to head closer to St. Petersburg.

FDOT said drivers should prepare for some delays or congestion during the overnight closure. Northbound travelers will not be impacted…
