Three hunters allegedly shoot duck past legal hours on Emeralda Marsh

A trio of hunters will appear in court for killing a duck past the legal hours on Emeralda Marsh.

An officer heard a series of gunshots at Emeralda Marsh near the boat ramp around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a resource citation from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. As it was past the end of legal hunting hours, he launched a boat to speak with the hunters, later identified as 31-year-old Kenneth Allen Undercoffer of Lakeland, 25-year-old Brett Thomas Burchett of Lakeland and 23-year-old Trenten Lee Anderson of Orange City.

Once on the water, the officer found their vessel and saw them hidden in a blind with duck decoys in the water. He approached slowly and heard them ejecting shells from their shotguns. He then asked how they had done that day, and they stated they had just shot their limit of 18 ducks, the report said…
