We have two new faces in the Motor Unit, Officers Waterman and Gleim. The two have officially saddled up on their Harleys and are working traffic enforcement and investigations.
Officer Waterman is returning to the Unit after working in other areas at LPD for the past seven years. Waterman joined LakelandPD in 2004 and was selected to join the Traffic Unit as a Motor Officer in 2007. He served with the unit for 11 years, during which time he became a Police Motorcycle Instructor and brought home several awards at state motorcycle competitions. This past year, he came back to what he loves most, the Motor team.
Officer Gleim joined the Lakeland Police Department in February 2024, bringing with him a lifelong love of two wheels and 23 years of riding experience. A longtime sport bike rider, Officer Gleim learned firsthand that trading a nimble rocket for a 900-pound Harley is less “hop on and go” and more “respect the physics.” In September 2025, he was selected for the Motor Unit and successfully completed Motor School, widely regarded as one of the toughest courses in law enforcement.
