Florida man accused of throwing hundreds of nails on roadway for months

VALRICO, Fla. (WFLA) — A monthslong investigation has led to the arrest of a Florida man accused of routinely throwing hundreds of roofing nails onto a neighborhood roadway.

Deputies began investigating on Sept. 11 after someone called to report that several nails had been scattered across a local roadway, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Nearly 30 similar cases were reported in the area over the next five months, authorities said.

Several people also reported their vehicles were damaged by the nails. Multiple viewers of NewsNation affiliate WFLA sent in photos of nails in their tires.
