Davenport man sentenced to over 11 years for carjacking and firearm offenses

TAMPA, Florida — Armoni Tyree Moody, a 24-year-old from Davenport, has been sentenced to 11 years and 9 months in federal prison for carjacking and related firearm offenses. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle.

Moody was found guilty by a federal jury on October 22, 2025, for carjacking, brandishing a firearm in furtherance of the carjacking, and possessing ammunition as a convicted felon. The court ordered Moody to forfeit the firearm and ammunition used in the crime, according to United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

Court records reveal that Moody arranged to meet the carjacking victim via social media under the pretense of purchasing marijuana. During the encounter, Moody entered the victim’s car, brandished a loaded handgun, and threatened the victim, forcing him to surrender two cellphones before driving away with the vehicle…
