WINTER HAVEN, Florida — A machete attack on Friday night left a 38-year-old man hospitalized with a severe arm laceration and resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of an armed disturbance at a residence on Flamingo Boulevard around 5:41 p.m. The victim had already left for a local hospital with witnesses by the time deputies arrived. The suspect, Moises Alberto Rodriguez, attempted to flee but complied when ordered to stop by deputies. He was found in possession of a glass pipe and methamphetamine.
Witnesses reported that the altercation began when the victim went to a shed to retrieve tools while working on a vehicle. Rodriguez confronted him, warning against using his tools. Despite the warning, the victim entered the shed, prompting Rodriguez to swing a machete, causing the victim to suffer a deep cut to his left forearm…
